Voice Recognition Solution Wins AIIA iAward
We are very proud to be associated with the prestigious
AIIA iIMPLEMENTION Award presented to ActiveCall Pty Ltd for the
Western Australia Tourism Commission Virtual Call Centre application.
The Australian Information Industry Association is made up of 370
members Australia wide, employing 100,000 Australians, with an annual
turn over of $40 billion, and annual exports of $2 billion.
Designed in conjunction with
ActiveCall (Australia’s leading provider of multi-functional
portal hosted solutions), the Western Australia Tourism Commission (WATC)
Virtual Call Centre (VCC) service uses a base voice recognition model
development by the US-based SpeechWorks.
"One of our many strengths is the amount of development time we
have put into making SpeechWorks ‘Australian’. Thousands of voice
samples have been analysed to ‘tune’ the speech recognition to the
point where recent Australian tests showed a successful recognition
result of 98%." Terry Gaitskell – Tele Management Technical
Director
What really impresses is the fact that the system does not need to
be endlessly trained to recognise a particular voice; anyone can be
recognised. Building the application was a consultative process
between Tele Management Australia, ActiveCall and the WATC. The nature
of the project required a uniquely modern solution that could deliver
a fast, effective and accurate service to route an average of 300
calls per day.
"The WATC needed to route calls to various call centres around
Western Australia, depending on the town or attraction the caller was
interested in. With 4700 different options, and 20 different call
centres, voice recognition was the only viable solution, and this
couldn’t have been achieved without Tele Management’s expertise."
